New figures have revealed that burglary has fallen across the borough as a result of action by Ealing’s Labour council. After questions to this month’s council meeting it was revealed that burglary in the borough has decreased by 15% in the last twelve months.

This is after the council launched new partnership working with the local police. Police patrols in known burglary hotspots have been increased and properties in these areas have been offered burglary prevention measures including the council’s popular alley gating programme. The council has also focussed its police problem solving team, which was introduced by Labour, in East Acton to combat burglary there.

This concrete action by your local Labour council has led to following falls in burglary in wards across the borough over the last six months:

Greenford Broadway                          -13.9%

Greenford Green                                -12.6%

North Greenford                                 -21.7%

Perivale                                               -38.5%

Northolt Mandeville                            -34.1%

Northolt West End                              -22.2%

Labour deputy leader and cabinet member for community safety Cllr Ranjit Dheer said:

Burglary is a terrible crime that devastates families. That is why the Labour council have made it such a priority and ensured the council can prevent burglaries. This is in contrast the Tories who have cut police numbers and retreated from community policing.

If we win the re-election in May Ealing Labour has pledged to invest in more CCTV, street lighting and alley gates in crime hotspots. Labour will do all we can to keep Ealing safe.
