Ealing Labour promises investment in local libraries

Ealing Labour has promised to make significant investments in libraries in both Perivale and Hanwell. Labour’s Deputy Leader Cllr Ranjit Dheer made the following statement in answer to a question on the future of libraries at a recent council meeting:

“We intend to make substantial investment into these libraries. We will invest £900,000 in Hanwell library and £402,000 in Perivale. The money will go towards longstanding repairs, introducing self service and improving disabled access to make these building fit for purpose community resources. The money will come from the money we have recovered from the Icelandic banks and we will start work in 2012/13. The programme should last 12 months.”
