Why austerity is self-defeating: how we can spend our way out of debt.

Guest Speaker: Grace Blakeley, Commission on Economic Justice, Institute for Public Policy Research

We're proud and excited to launch the first of the 2018 programme of open discussions for members and supporters. The topics are the bedrock ones on which elections can be won, if we give them the attention they deserve, deepen our understanding and share it with others.  Of course our politics are serious because they are about people's lives and livelihoods, the present and future of our families and communities and country. But if they are to appeal to others, they first have to enthuse us.

So instead of plodding through agendas, we want to stir in some forceful analysis and provocative ideas from lively, expert speakers, and have as many as possible speak their minds - and be keen to return for more. It could just be fun, especially if you're new to Labour or politics or even to discussion meetings.
