Labour Behind Traffic Wardens
Labour today backed calls for the parking enforcement service to be kept in-house, managed by the council
Since the doomed contract entered into by the Tories during their administration ended, parking enforcement was brought in-house, and has been performing better than ever.
Resident satisfaction has increased, whilst the number of tickets issued and violent clashes with the public have decreased. Ealing Labour supports plans to ensure that parking fines are issued to enforce parking rules, and not as a stealth tax on Ealing residents.
The Evening Standard revealed this week Ealing Council’s relentless targeting of certain parts of the Borough, with
Ealing Labour Leader, Cllr Julian Bell commented “for a council that has turned parking into a 24/7 enforcement nightmare, unfairly targeting only certain parts of our Borough, it makes no sense that they should once again outsource a performing service that has made leaps and bounds in progress since coming in house.”
Looking forward to the up coming local council elections, Cllr Bell commented “Under a Labour administration, we’d ensure that parking is for people and not profit. We will bring about a fundamental change in parking enforcement policy to ensure that residents and not profits are at the heart of what the council does.”
