Labour has frozen your council tax again at Ealing Council’s annual budget setting meeting. Your Labour council has frozen council tax for the seventh year in a row despite facing £183m of Tory Government cuts. The freeze means that council tax has not increased by a penny since Labour took control in 2010.

Labour made a freeze in council tax a manifesto pledge at the local elections, in order to help local residents with the impact of the cost of living crisis that the Tory-led government has imposed on them.

The budget also included additional capital funds to deliver the infrastructure Ealing needs to thrive. The budget includes:

·       £45million to expand local schools

·        £8.3million for Gunnersbury Park

·       £3.6million for grants to help people remain in their home when they get ill

·       £4million to resurface road 

Ealing Council’s Labour Leader Cllr Julian Bell said

“Labour promised to freeze council tax in May and we have kept our word. We know how much local residents are suffering under this Tory-led Government and that is why we have kept bills frozen. Bills have not gone up by one penny since we got into power.”

Ealing Council’s Cabinet member for finance Cllr Yvonne Johnson added

“We are facing a mountain of cuts from the Tory-led Government. Between 2010-18 we’ve had £183m worth of cuts from our budgets. Balancing the books has been extremely difficult and we’ve had to take decisions we did not want to. We’ve done our best to protect residents and the services that local people rely on.”
