Speaking about Labour’s key pledges and manifesto Cllr Julian Bell said:

This manifesto contains our 5 key pledges to the electorate and states how we will build on our achievements of the last four years, delivering a council tax freeze for the fifth consecutive year, continuing the fight to save our hospitals and addressing key residents’ concerns of tackling crime, keeping the borough clean, protecting the environment, investing in young people and delivering more affordable homes.

In the face of continued unprecedented cuts to our budgets by the Tory led government we are determined to defend services and our community. The local Tories’ false promises can only be met by catastrophic cuts to services. This is an alternative that is too horrendous to contemplate – closing community facilities by the dozen and slashing services that will hit the weakest and most vulnerable hardest.

Make sure you, your family and friends vote Labour on Thursday 22 May to Defend our Community.

Rt Hon Hilary Benn MP said:

Labour in Ealing have done a first class job over the last four years by freezing the Council Tax for residents whilst protecting frontline services from £87m of Tory led government cuts.

Despite these unprecedented cuts they have expanded schools for our young people, provided new libraries and leisure centres, built new homes and transformed housing estates, as well as targeting diminishing resources on providing care for the elderly and disabled. All this shows what a difference Labour values make.

The next four years will be even tougher but Labour in Ealing is ready for the challenge of defending vital local services and our communities.
