Hanwell.

Wendy Langan and her family have lived in Ealing for over 40 years. Wendy is fully committed to her local community, working on the Youth and Community Committee and the Police Forum, in addition to being Chair of the Governors at Perivale Primary School. Wendy is particularly concerned with the environment and equal opportunites, and believes her constituents deserve a greater say over how local services are delivered.

Neil Reynolds teaches at a comprehensive school in North-West London and strongly opposes Tory party cuts to schools budgets. As an active member of the community Neil is also a school governor. Neil believes Hanwell boasts some of the finest parks in the borough and is determined to ensure that they remain safe places for all to enjoy.

Ray Wall Ray has previously served as a councillor for Hobbayne ward and is Chair of the Governing Body at St Joseph's school in Hanwell, which all four of Ray's children attended. In addition to campaigning to protect the local environment Ray, who works for Network Rail believes transport is a key issue for the next council. Ray pledges to put local residents first in his fight for Hanwell to be awarded more resources.

 

Omer Ahmed is a local solicitor and has campaigned nationally on issues around equal pay and gender and age discrimitionm in the workplace. Omer has a strong track-record of working on behalf of ealing residents, having served 4 years as a Non-executive Director of Ealing Hospital NHS trust. he is also a Governor of Greenford High School Omer is determined to make the voice of local people heard in the council chamber.

Taranjit Kaur Chana is a solicitor working in family and immigration law. She is a member of a Tenant Advisory Panel as well as a services evaluation member with ASRA housing association. A champion of women's rights Taranjit volunteers legal advice for the Rights of Women. Her priorities are protecting green spaces and ensuring access to good local transport links. She is also a keen supporter of safe 'Home Zones' offering safe places for local children to play.

Yoel Gordon is a family man who has lived in the area for 16 years. As a former councillor and Chair of the Governing Body for Maples Children's Centre Yoel has a keen understanding of the needs of the local community. He will fight to maintain and improve our public spaces and continue to oppose the proposed construction of a skate park in Elthorne Park.

 

Southall

Shahid Kausar is a Governor of Brentside high School. He has extensive experience of working with older residents, with the unemployed and with Southall's youth. Shahid's ongoing campaigns include implemementing safer working conditions for employees.

Councillor Zahida Abbas Noori has been working with local comunites for 20 years. During his time she has championed many issues including the National Minimum Wage, workplace discriminatio, provision of youth services and community cohesion.Zahida has been an executive memebr of the Black, Asian, Mionority and Ethnic Labour group for two years.Mrs Noori is an active member of the Labour Women's Network and is deeply committed to improving the social mobility of all her constituents. She firmly believes in opportunities for all, not just for a few.

Surinder Varma is a former councillor and is now part of the governing body of both Havelock and Dormers Wells schools. As a community figure Surinder cares passionately  abouth the well-being and development of young people within the community as well as fighting to secure the prosperity of the elderly. Surinder is dedicated to forging a renewed trust between voters and their representatives on the local council.

 Councillor Mohammed Aslan has represented Norwood Green since 1998 and is a respected community leader and vice chair of Beaconsfield Primary School. Mohammed had secured funding for improvements to local parks and to both the Havelock and Windmill estates. As a board member of the Ealing Police Consulting Committee Aslan is keen to tackle the problem of drug use in the area.

Gurmit Kaur Mann has extensive experience of working with the local community. She is a member of the Indian Worker's Association and a mener of the local Gurdwara. As a concillor Mrs Kaur Mann would champion the local environment, trafiic and health awareness issues. 

Councillor Rajinder Singh Mann has represented the people of Norwood Green for 15 years. during that time he has secured additional funding to pay for improvements to local parks and the Havelock and Windmill estates. Rajinder is a Governor and Vice Chair of Dormers Wells Junior School. he will continue to fight to ensure that the aspirations of all local people are met.

Mohinda Midha is both an executive member of the Indian Worker's Association and a member of the local Gurdwara. Mohinder possesses an acute awareness of issues facing local women in her community and frequently uses a spot on local radio to fight for the rights of her community. 

Karam Mohan, a social worker with a background in journalism, has over 17 years experience of working for local authorities. A tireless community worker Karam is acutely aware of the econimic difficulties many local people face and is determined to make their voice heard.

 Swaran Singh Padda is dedicated to imporving local public services and is used to representing more than 3000 workers at the European Workers Council.

 

 

 

Acton

ACTON

Councillor John Gallagher has been serving the local community since he was first elected to Ealing Council  as an Alderman in 1978. A former teacher and long term trade union worker John was elected councillor for South Acton in 2006. Since then has played a key role in keeping Acton swimming pool open. In addition he has fought hard to preserve the Priory Centre as a popular service for local residents.

Councillor Yvonne Johnson has represented Acton since 1986. A history and social science teacher in a London comprehenssive Yvonne also serves as a governor of Acton High School and Berrymede Nursery and Infant School. She is a founde member os Acton Homeless Concern and as Ealing Labour's spokesperson for finance, ensures that the Council is sensible with yoru money.

Mik Sabiers has lived in Acton for 20 years. He attended Chiswick High School before attending London's SOuth Bank University. Mik currently works for the Unite trade union where he edits the journal. Mik holds regular resident's surgeries at Labour's Ruskin Hall on Saturday mornings.

Councillor Kate Crawford has represented Acton for 12 years. As a carer for her disabled son Kate is a strong and experienced advocate for families with disabled children.  Kate is a dilligent caseworker  regularly visiting residents in their homes to better understand hopw she can help with their problems. Kate is particularly proud of the work she has done on the Vale estate, developing a play area and the refurbishment of the Community Hall. Her priorities are tackling anti-social behaviour, traffic calming measures and protecting the local environment. She serves on the governing body of South Acron's Children's Centre.

Hitesh Tailor has many years experience of working in local government where he specialises in housing policy. He is a school governor at East Acton Primary and is the voluntary sector member on Ealing Council's Housing Scrutinmy Panel. Hitesh wants to see improved commubnity safety, more affordable housing and improvements to the local environment in East Acton. He firmly believes that local residents need to have better representationand a greater say on how local services are delivered.

Atallah Said describes himself as a family man and is a longterm local resident. As chairmen of the British Arabs Association Atallah believes the Labour party is the natural home for Btitain's Arabic community. Atallah will ensure that all local communities are equally represented and that their voices are heard in Acton.

Councillor Patricia Walker was elected to Ealing Council in 2006. before that she was appointed Labour's spokesperson on Children and Young People. Patricia has led the fight against Tory cuts to frontkline services. She has worked on a range of community projects with a diverse number of community organizations. Dr Walker is a lecturer in eductaion at the University of East London and is passionate about creating opportunities for people to fully realise their potential. Patricia is fully committed to  protecting the diverse community in Ealing for the benefit of all residents.

Daniel Crawford was brought up in Acton and attended local schools. He currently works for the Labour party as a campaigns assistant, while pursuing a career as a freelance journalist. Having been born with cerebal palsy Daniel understands health and disability issues only too well. He is also a staunch advocate for yopung people in the community.  If elected these are the issues that Daniel would prioritise.

Dr Abdullah Gulaid has lived in Acton for 27 years and is a school governor at Southfield Primary School. Active in many charitites  Abdullah co-founded the Sickle Cell Anaemia Research Foundation, using his many years experience as a medical researcher. Dr Gulaid is currently the director of a health diagnostic company in London.

Northolt

NORTHOLT

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz has served the people of Northolt, where he grew up for 5 years. Bassam is a Governor at his old primary school, St Raphaels. Bassam and his wife recently celebrated the birth of baby son Alexander. He is proud of the improvements in Northolt that he has fought for, including the new Northolt library, and the introdcution of traffic calming measures. At a wider level Bassam has uncovered the appalling disgrace that is the Conservative administration money-grabbing parking policy.

Councillor Brian Reeves was a teacher at Greenford High School for 20 years. He is now Chair of the Governors at Downe Manor Primary School and also serves as a governor at the West London Academy and St Saviours First School. He was elected to the council in 2006 and has campaigned for better facilities for young people and safer places for children to play. Brian stresses that there are not enough facilities for local kids and will continue to fight for greater provision. as a board member of ealing Homes Brian is determined to fight Tory plans to sell the management of local council housing to the private sector. 'Tenants must have the right to decide who manages their homes', says Brian.

Laurne Wall is a comunity worker and Governor at the Cardinal Wiseman High School. She grew up in Northolt and is fully committed to her community. As a mother of four Lauren is particularly interested in achieving better educational outcomes for all children in the borough, and pledges, that if elected she will do her utmost to improve the quality of life for all the people of Northolt, ensuring that Northold receives a fair share of of resources.

Councillor Julian Bell is the leader of Ealing Labour and has represented Greenford Broadway since 2006. He is a member of the Rectory Park Estate regeneration committee and the Greenford Broadway safer neighbourhood police team committee. Julian chairs the local ward forum and believes the council must deliver high quality sevvices to local people. Julian will continue to fight anti-scoial behaviour while campaigning for better services for young people, improved local transport and the protection of Ealing's local environment.

Harbhajan Kaur has lived in Ealing for 26 years and served as deputy Mayoress from 2001-2002. She takes a keen interest in her children's education and in a governor of a local school. If elected Harbhajan promises to hold regular services to help residents in the day to day needs.

Tim Murtagh is a local resident with many years experience of working in the public and charity sector. He has served as a governor at two Greenford Schools. Tim believes that the key to tackling anti-social behaviour lies in working closely with local residents.  Tim will work hard to improve the local services that make such a difference to local people lives.

Chiswick

Colin Bastin has lived in Chiswick for most of his life. Educated at a comprehensive Colin is now an IT manager. A former Chair of the Governors at Southfield School Colin uses his love of marathon running to raise money for the homeless. He is chair of the Southfield Safer Neighbourhood Panel, a co-ordinator of Nieghbourhood Watch and a memberf of the Acton Green residents Association. Colin will work hard to tackle local law and order issues, while campaigning for more uniformed police officers on the beat.

Linda Kietz has lived in SOuthfield for more than 20 years. Mother of four Linda, is a committed trade-unionist and believes passionately in her local community. She has served as a school governor and takes an active int6erest in education, which she believes should be state-funded.  Linda campaigns for the rights of pensioners and will fight any moves to scrap fre bus travel which she believes is vital if older people are to retain their independence.

Jack Tattersall has lived in chiswick for 26 years. Jack believes that councillors must work together for the benefit of the community . Jack, a trade-unionist, is particularly interested in working to secure more jobs in ealing, as well as campaigning for increased inveatment in education and safer streets.

 

 

Walpole

Paul Conlan lives in Ealing where he runs a small business. Much as he loves the area he is ambitious to make it even better. He believes Ealign badly needs new entertainment and cultural attractions; a concert venue, a professional theatre and arts centre are just some of the things Paul would help to create if elected. he is also passionate about building more afordable home, 'not just homes but the schools and health centres to support them'. He looks forward to hearing from residents in West Ealing how togther 'we can inject new life into the area'.

Rupa Huq was born and brought up in ealing. After attending local schools she attending Cambridge University before returning to the are to work for Ealing council and the European parliament. She now balances work as a university lecturer with bing mum to five year old Rafa. She is the author of a book on youth culture and writes a regular column for Tribune magazine, although admits she has some way to go 'before I catch up with my televisually better known sister', the presenter Konnie Huq.

Wiktor Moszynski has lived in Ealing since 1948. He is a long-time campaigner for improvements to the local area. In the 1980's Wiktor was Chairman of the Polish Solidarity Campaign and has been Vice Chairman of the Federation of Poles in Breat Briatain. He has written articles for the Guardian and The Daily telegraph as well as writing regularly for the Ealing Gazette. A former councillor Wiktor was Ealing's transport spokesperson and coordinator of Ealing's environmental policies. he has been married to Albina for 37 years and together they have one son, Sandro.
