Save Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals

Ealing Labour has voiced opposition to radical Government plans to close two local A&E departments. New plans released by the NHS last week propose the closure of A&E facilities at Ealing Hospital and Central Midlesex hospital. Four different options have been proposed for the new merged North West London hospital, the NHS preferred option sees both Ealing Hospital and Central middlesex close as Distrcit General hospitals and close both A&Es. The proposals can be found in the new trust’s Outline Business Case here http://bit.ly/rNY6yD  in Appendix B.

Ealing Labour has warned that the Government plans to close A&E facilites for several months but this claims had been dismissed by local Conservative politicians as scaremongering. Labour passed a council motion in July opposing any moves to close services at Ealing Hospital. Labour’s fears have now been realised and local Labour politician’s have voiced their opposition. However the proposals mark a dramatic u-turn for the Conservatives.

Ealing Council Leader Cllr Julian Bell said “These plans are unacceptable labour’s position is clear clsoing A&E departments will mean it takes longer for people to get treatment and will potentially put lives at risk. As a local Labour council we will do all we can to opposse closures and demonstarte how unpopular these plans are with local people.”

Dr Onkar Sahota Labour’s Ealing and Hillingdon GLA candidate has set up a petitions to save the two hospitals.
