Ealing’s Labour Council is to invest £102,000 to improve street lighting in key crime hotspots across the borough. This means that under Labour the council has delivered over £400k worth of upgraded lighting in crime hotspots.
The extra lighting will be introduced in nine different areas across the borough including Brunswick Road, New Broadway and Mattock Lane in Ealing, as well as Uxbridge Road and Copley Close in Hanwell. The details of the schemes can be found here.
The Labour council worked with the police to select locations through looking at crime statistics and intelligence about areas at risk of crime and anti-social behaviour.
Labour Cabinet member for Transport and Environment Cllr Bassam Mahfouz said:
“Residents have told us over and over again that community safety is their number one priority. That is why Labour has delivered better street lighting to make people safer and to help them feel safer as well. A re-elected Labour council will make community safety a top priority and deliver more improvements to street lighting.A vote for the Tories will put programmes like this at risk as they have plans for huge cuts to public services which will result in community safety budgets being slashed.”
